Junior Diplomatic Academy Students Develop Conflict Resolution Skills

February 7, 2025

As part of the Junior Diplomatic Academy program at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth, a training session titled “Conflict Resolution: Navigating and Resolving Conflicts Effectively” was held. During the session, students explored the nature of conflicts, their key causes, and practical strategies for resolving them.

Special attention was given to understanding different patterns of human behavior in challenging situations.

During the session, participants went beyond theory and actively applied their knowledge in practice. They began with a test to identify their conflict behavior style, which then served as a foundation for further discussions and activities.

Students analyzed their responses to different scenarios, explored constructive ways to resolve disagreements, and practiced techniques for de-escalating tension.

A key focus of the training was developing empathy and the ability to understand the other side in a conflict situation. For diplomats, it is especially important to remain objective and clearly define their goals when resolving disagreements.

This approach not only helps achieve compromise, but also supports the building of long term, mutually beneficial relationships.

Rita Kosiak, Head of the Junior Diplomatic Academy, emphasized that the ability to manage conflicts is one of the most valuable skills for both diplomats and individuals in general: “The key is not to avoid disagreements, but to turn them into opportunities for better solutions.”

The session helped students gain a deeper understanding of constructive dialogue and discover effective approaches to conflict resolution.
