Students of the Junior Diplomatic Academy had a unique opportunity to connect with a national treasure and learn more about its significance for Ukrainian culture and statehood.
They were introduced to the Peresopnytsia Gospel, an invaluable artifact that Ukrainians have treasured for over 450 years as a key part of their historical heritage. The presentation was led by Alla Istomina, Director of the ADEF Ukraine Publishing House and Candidate of Historical Sciences, together with Kateryna Pashchenko, the publishing house’s Chief Editor.

They emphasized that the Peresopnytsia Gospel is not only a historical relic, but also a powerful symbol of the continuity of Ukrainian culture and national identity.
The young participants explored a facsimile edition of the Gospel with great interest. Since 1991, this sacred book has been used by Presidents of Ukraine during their inauguration oath, highlighting its profound national significance.

Rita Kosiak, Head of the Junior Diplomatic Academy, emphasized that this meeting was significant not only for introducing students to national symbols, but also for fostering a deep understanding of Ukraine’s cultural heritage among young diplomats. She highlighted that knowledge of historical and cultural values equips diplomats to build strong international connections and represent Ukraine effectively worldwide.

The meeting offered more than just a chance to expand knowledge—it served as a reminder of the importance of preserving historical monuments, particularly during challenging times. It underscored that national heritage is a vital part of both diplomatic practice and the personal awareness of every Ukrainian.
Engagement with cultural heritage fosters not only historical memory, but also a sense of responsibility for safeguarding the nation’s cultural achievements. Events like this help young people understand how history shapes contemporary international relations and promotes cultural dialogue between countries.
