Students of the Junior Diplomatic Academy participated in an event that merged video games, history, and modern Ukrainian identity. On Ukrainian Volunteer Day, the creators of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl from GSC Game World visited the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, joined by Oleksandr “Sei” Laptiy, an actor, serviceman, and the real-life inspiration for one of the game’s main characters.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is more than just a video game. It tells a story of resilience, challenges, and perseverance, becoming part of global culture. Ukrainian developers infused it with not only advanced technology but also a profound philosophy, sharing Ukraine with the world.

During the meeting, Academy students had the chance to ask numerous questions and gain insight into the game’s development, its production process, and the significance of embedding Ukrainian culture in game design. The GSC Game World team – Maksym Tkachenko (Publishing Project Manager), Illia Romanenko (3D Artist), Vladyslav Momot (QA Engineer), and Daryna Adushkina (IT Project Manager) – shared their hands-on experiences and discussed how the game projects Ukrainian identity to a global audience.

The event was organized with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Public Diplomacy Center at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, in collaboration with the MFA Women’s Diplomatic Club and the “Spouses of Ukrainian Diplomats” Association.

At the conclusion of the meeting, students received keepsake gifts and shared their reflections on the experience. Everyone appreciated this unique opportunity. We warmly thank the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the invitation and excellent collaboration.
