The Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth hosted the premiere of the documentary We, Ukraine, directed by French filmmaker Frédéric Laffon in collaboration with Kyiv’s and Brussels’ sister cities. The film portrays the lives of Ukrainians amid the full-scale war, capturing not only the destruction of buildings and infrastructure, but also the enduring spirit, rich culture, traditions, and daily resilience of the Ukrainian people.

The film was over three years in the making, with the creative team capturing stories from across Ukraine, blending both dramatic and uplifting moments. Beyond showing the destruction, it highlights how Ukrainians maintain their identity and resilience through art, folk customs, and cultural traditions, standing strong in the face of aggression.

The film, acclaimed at international festivals in Berlin, Nyon, and Copenhagen, was shown to a Ukrainian audience for the very first time.

Through the collaboration of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth and the Kyiv City Department of International Relations, Junior Diplomatic Academy students were invited to an event where they met Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the filmmakers, and members of the diplomatic corps. Addressing the attendees, Mayor Klitschko highlighted the significance of the premiere venue: “The Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth is a hub of creativity, talent, and the energy of new generations, for whom we strive and fight.”

The screening offered a rare chance not only to explore the artistic project but also to witness the breadth of international support for Ukraine. For Junior Diplomatic Academy students, it was an invaluable experience to meet professionals who dedicate themselves daily to diplomacy and cultural initiatives, actively supporting the country during these challenging times.
