The All-Ukrainian academic conference in the Model UN format — Ukraine MUN II (Model United Nations), organized in partnership with the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Model UN Club, was held at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth. Junior Diplomatic Academy students participated in the simulation, taking on the roles of delegates representing UN member states.

  1. Recreating the work of the UN General Assembly and its committees, participants stepped into the role of diplomats, experiencing firsthand how this global institution operates.

  1. Committee sessions proved highly productive. Participants came well-prepared, raised thoughtful questions, and confidently advocated for the interests of the countries they represented.

During the conference, each committee tackled pressing global issues: the UN Security Council (UNSC) focused on emergency measures for de-escalation in Eurasia to prevent a wider conflict; ECOSOC explored ways to mediate trade and economic tensions between the United States, China, and the European Union; the Human Rights Council (HRC) examined how to strengthen accountability for crimes under the International Criminal Court and expand its authority; and within ICAO, participants developed proposals to improve civil aviation safety amid armed conflicts.

  1. Overall, participants in the simulation conference tackled key global challenges — from human rights and security to environmental issues, economic impacts, post-war recovery, and reforms of international institutions.

As Rita Kosyak, head of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth project office, noted: “In preparation for the event, Junior Diplomatic Academy students studied UN procedures, debate formats, the positions of the countries they represented, and developed their speeches. UkraineMUN II is an essential platform for young people who see their future in international affairs. We are grateful to our partners for their collaboration.”
