April 1, 2026

At the Junior Diplomatic Academy, students met with Ukrainian actress, TV presenter, and public figure Rymma Zyubina—an award-winning performer recognized with the Golden Dzyga for her leading role in “The Nest of the Turtledove” and for her impact on Ukrainian cinema and culture. The discussion focused on “The Role of Ukrainian Cinema in International Cultural Diplomacy.”

The meeting opened with a musical moment that created a welcoming and open tone for the conversation.

Rymma Zyubina spoke about her career path, highlighted the importance of psychology both in acting and daily life, and emphasized the value of having a clear personal position in today’s world. She also stressed the importance of information responsibility: “If something вызывает strong emotions, make sure to verify it through at least two sources.”

The discussion also highlighted the role of language in cultural diplomacy. As the actress noted, “Mastering languages is essential if you want to share the truth with the world.”

Participants explored how cinema influences how Ukraine is seen internationally, how film narratives shape perceptions of its culture and history, and how Ukrainian films are received at global festivals. They also reflected on the role cinema plays in presenting Ukraine to the world.

Rita Kosyak, Head of the Project Office at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth, emphasized: “For future diplomats, this was an important reminder—culture is not just art, but a powerful tool that shapes a country’s image in the world. And those who can communicate that image help shape its future.”
